The largest Polish website with on-demand movies owned by media company Ringier Axel Springer launched on September 21, 2012. In addition to series (over 1000 episodes) and television programs, it also offers a database of 700 films from world and Polish cinematography. vod.pl also presents films and documentaries awarded at world festivals, as well as iconic Polish cinema. In total, over 3000 hours of video material. The offerings on the vod.pl website is updated regularly, and is available on devices with Android (operating system) and IOS, as well as TV sets.

Netflix overtaken in Poland

Vod.pl was the most popular on demand service in Poland in August, pushing Netflix into second place.

According to data produced by Gemius/PBI for Wirtualne Media, it had 3,418,684 real users, compared to Netflix’s 2,912,913.

Its reach was also higher (12.2% v 10.39%), though Netflix had almost three times as many opens (39,595,671) as vod.pl (13,527,594).

Netflix saw its user total fall, from 3,478,832 in July, while its reach fell from 12.45%.

Of particular note in the figures were falls by the long-established player.pl and ipla.tv, as well as strong performance by the newcomer chili.com.

Player.pl (TVN/Discovery Polska) andf ipla.tv (Cyfrowy Polsat) occupied sixth and eighth place respectively, with chili.com claiming ninth.

Cda.pl –premium was the third most popular service after vod.pl and Netflix.

Vod.pl is owned by Ringier Axel Springer Polska.
